A wide variety of chamber groups and special ensembles offer students additional opportunities to perform. A few of the special ensembles offered are listed below:

Baroque Ensemble
Open to both singers and instrumentalists, the Baroque Ensemble performs baroque music on period instruments, with attention to style and performance practice. The School's baroque instruments, such as harpsichords, baroque strings and baroque winds, are available to students. Each semester the ensemble performs one or two concerts on campus and sometimes plays off-campus as well.

Brass Ensembles
All second-semester brass first-year students, first-semester sophomores, and transfer students participate in brass ensembles (quintets, quartets or other small ensembles).

Duo Piano Ensemble
The Duo Piano Ensemble studies and performs duo piano and piano duet literature. Performance opportunities include student recitals, senior projects, the Festival of New Music, and appropriate professional and community programs.

Flute Choir
The Flute Choir performs music for varying sizes of flute ensembles utilizing all flutes from the bass to the piccolo. Performances are given each semester, incorporating standard works with new music and specially commissioned pieces.

Horn Ensemble
The Horn Ensemble is open to all university horn players presently studying at FSU. The Horn Ensemble performs on campus as well as for conventions and other special occassions. In 1992, the Horn Ensemble performed as the official U.S. representative at the International Horn Symposium in Manchester, England.

New Music Ensemble
The New Music Ensemble performs modern and contemporary works by famous composers as well as concerts and readings of the compositions of FSU student composers.

Percussion Ensemble
The Percussion Ensemble performs several concerts a year, incorporating a wide variety of repertoire, including traditional and new music and arrangements. Instrumentation encompasses the broad spectrum of the percussion family.

Saxophone Ensemble
The Saxophone Ensemble is a chamber ensemble ranging from soprano to bass saxophone and performs a stylistically diverse selection of music. Performance opportunities include annual "Eine Kleine Saxmusik" concerts, regional North American Saxophone Alliance performances, and high school presentations.

Trumpet Ensemble
