Undergraduate Audition Requirements
Prospective students are expected to contact the School of Music during their senior year in high school or no later than 9 months prior to transfer for specific information regarding admission and audition dates to the Florida State University School of Music.

University Admissions Deadlines:
Completed University admissions application and all supporting credentials should be submitted no later than three months prior to the beginning of the term for which admission is desired and no earlier than one year prior to the term for which admission is desired. The University Admissions deadline for freshman applicants may be as early as six to seven months prior to the entering term (please check with the University Admissions Office). Early submission of a completed application will ensure an earlier review of the student's credentials. Students who are admitted to the University prior to January for the subsequent Fall term will increase their opportunity for on-campus housing.

Audition Procedures:
Each applicant to the School of Music is required to perform an admission audition in applied music. To be admitted to the School of Music applicants must meet minimum standards in applied music through the placement audition. Prospective undergraduate students are strongly urged to audition on campus. If a live audition cannot be arranged, recorded auditions are acceptable for admission to the School of Music, but acceptance into a performance degree program must be re-affirmed by a live audition at the time the student enters the School of Music. Guitar, percussion, organ, voice and harpsichord students in particular are strongly recommended to audition in person. A taped audition for Spring admission (January) must be submitted by November 8. Taped audition for Fall admission (August) must be submitted by June 1. To obtain an audition appointment, complete the School of Music audition application that you will receive (upon your request) and return it to the School of Music. Your request will be considered accepted and no further confirmation will be necessary. Approximately three weeks prior to the scheduled audition date, undergraduate applicants will receive exact times and locations of the General Information Meeting and an audition schedule.
